Structural Myofascial Therapy Level 2: Advanced Techniques and Applications

Eligibility
Training offered for massage therapists, physiotherapy technologists, athletic therapists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors.
Prerequisites
You must have completed Level 1 with BetsyAnn Baron or Claire Barro.
General objectives
At the end of this course, participants will have deepened their understanding of somatic postural awareness and learned new manual techniques specific to various problems of the myofascial system®.
Specific objectives
Apply and integrate more advanced techniques of subjective assessment using somatic postural awareness (SPA);
Administer SMFT®-specific techniques while having a very good understanding of their relationship to the body as a whole;
Integrate exercises to be done outside of class hours;
Deepen your understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the myofascial system;
Use treatment safely;
Learn to work with healthy body mechanics at all times;
Understand all these newly learned techniques and ideas.
During this course, you will learn:
Specific techniques for the back, hips, legs, and feet;
Specific techniques for the psoas and iliacus muscles as well as their fasciae;
Dural system balancing techniques;
Anatomy and physiology of the myofascial system;
Learning to work with pathologies of the myofascial system;
Execution of advanced exercises of body reading and exploration of movements through somatic postural awareness.
Some exercises will have to be done outside of class hours.
Required materialA pen, and a marker.
Dress code
For women: we suggest a bathing suit top or tank top or "tube top" to facilitate the learning of somatic postural awareness.
For everyone: Easy-to-move underwear to facilitate work on the hips and buttocks.

This training provides 24 hours of continuing education credits.
